Renewing Auckland city's footpaths:
Auckland City Council is committed to the renewal and maintenance of 2,214 km of footpaths across the city.

Bill Pike and his guide dog, Noble, walk along a new footpath on New North Road, Mt Albert. The 69-year-old resident, who has lived in the area for eight years, says the path is a welcome improvement.

"I'm out walking about three or four times a day and the footpath is much better than it was," says Bill. Auckland City Council did the work earlier this year and Bill says the contractors deserve praise for their workmanship and the way they helped him and others navigate their way across the road during busy periods.

This year the council is spending approximately $21 million on renewing Auckland city's footpaths.

Work is still going on in Mt Albert, with Counsel Terrace, Lloyd Avenue and Prospero Terrace expected to be completed by mid-April.
