Shoppers in the Otahuhu Shopping Centre can now enjoy
refurbished seats to rest on while out and about on the main street. As the
seats are 15 years old, they had been repainted numerous times. This led to
paint so thick that any chips created an uneven surface, which could catch the
clothing or skin of people sitting on the benches.
The seats have now been completely refurbished by being
removed, stripped back, repainted and reinstalled.
Auckland City Council funded the project, which cost about
$20,000.
