Best NZ local government website: The Auckland City Council website was named NZ's best council site at the ALGIM local government web awards.

The Auckland City Council website was named New Zealand's best council site at the ALGIM local government web awards last week.

With more than 40,000 people visiting the site each week it's not surprising that it was judged the best out of 85 nation-wide council websites.

It is definitely your first port of call in keeping up-to-date with your city and finding out about council services and information that you may need to know.

Councillor Aaron Bhatnagar, chairperson of the City Development Committee, comments: "Offering an easier-to-navigate system makes life a lot simpler for our website visitors. With new technologies like Google Maps being introduced, information will be even easier to find. Congratulations to council officers on this award and this great achievement."
