If you are an active conservationist, or know of others who are, it's time to get nominating for the Auckland Zoo's 2009 national conservation awards.

Launched in Conservation Week 2008, the Conservationist of the Year and Young Conservationist of the Year awards, judged by the Auckland Zoo Board, celebrate individual initiatives of local, regional, or national significance.

"We know there are many individuals out in their local communities really going the extra mile to make a positive difference for the environment that deserve to have their efforts recognised," says Zoo Board chairperson, Councillor Graeme Mulholland.

Winners will be announced during Conservation Week (13-20 September).
