News in brief: Dog registration fees 2009/2010

The following dog control fees apply for the 2009/2010 year from 1 July 2009 for Auckland city.

Desexed dog whose owner has a dog-owner licence $44 $66
Desexed dog whose owner does not have a dog-owner licence $70 $105
Non-desexed dog whose owner has a dog-owner licence $91 $135
Non-desexed dog whose owner does not have a dog-owner licence $119 $177
Special purpose dogs (such as guide dogs, police dogs) Nil Nil
Working dogs (farm dogs etc) $44 $66
Dog owned by superannuitant $44 $66
Note: all fees stated include GST

The fee for a dog classified as "dangerous" is 150 per cent of the fee that applies without classification.

Dogs must be registered with the council every year from when they are three months old. You can pay registration fees online if the details you receive on your registration form are correct. Otherwise, you can send back the registration form with your payment, or take care of it at any of our service centres.
