Panmure town centre revamp
Revamped Panmure town centre: Recently completed streetscape
upgrades will reinforce long-term growth, safety and vitality.
From City Scene, published on 2 August, 2009.
Panmure's local residents and businesses are enjoying
recently completed streetscape upgrades of its town centre.
The upgrade, which finished last month, has improved the
overall aesthetic of the area as well as improving safety and accessibility.
Features include:
- new paving
- new and improved lighting
- realigned curbs
- new plants and trees.
"The upgrade looks great, we are very happy with the
results and hope the community is equally as pleased," says Councillor Greg
Moyle, chairperson of the Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee. "Ultimately we
hope the now upgraded and improved streetscapes will reinforce Panmure's sense
of place and foster the town centre's long-term growth, safety and vitality."
Getting on with it
Panmure reading room: Users of Panmure Community Library
can now enjoy a silent reading room.
The room, which features glass pannelling and air
conditioning, was created to cater to users that found low-level noise at this
popular facility too distracting to allow concentrated reading.
The money to complete this project was a collaborative
contribution from Auckland City Libraries and funding from the council's small
local improvement project programme through the Tamaki Community Board.
