Orakei update
Orakei peninsula development: Envisioning a mixed use community,
anchored by a new transport hub consisting of a state-of-the-art train
station, and dedicated bus and car drop off.
From City Scene, published on 13 September, 2009.
Residents will have the opportunity to hear progress on
plans to develop Orakei Peninsula this Tuesday, 15 September, at the Hobson
Community Board meeting.
The draft master plan and traffic report will go before the
board, and sketch impressions of the project by the
Leuschke Group will also be
featured.
Mayor of Auckland city, Hon. John Banks, says this is
another important meeting for those interested in ensuring this unique city
landscape is developed in a manner that benefits the broader community as well
as apartment dwellers. "It is a jewel of a site and requires careful treatment,"
he adds.
The master plan will be reported to next month's meeting of
the City Development Committee prior to notification of a plan change for public
consultation.
The Hobson Community Board meeting will take place at the
Parnell Community Centre (Hobson Room), 545 Parnell Road at 6.30pm, 15
September.
The master plan and additional sketch impressions (like the
one on the right) are available in the
Orakei peninsula development
section.
