Council offers faster checking of building consents
New service: Cr Bhatnagar checks out the new online building consents tool.
From City Scene, published on 4 October, 2009.
Those in the process of obtaining building consents can now
check the progress and status from the comfort of their own home, thanks to a
new council online building consents tool.
Auckland City Council launched the initiative on its
website recently, which also allows the online checking of code of compliance
certificate applications.
Councillor Aaron Bhatnagar says the free online tool is an
excellent way for customers to save time and keep up to date.
"We want to deliver better services to our customers; doing
business online helps people save time and money and makes the consent process
more transparent for everyone."
Using the online service, it's also possible to view all
existing building consents on a specific property. Customers can search by
address, consent number, title or parcel.
Most consent applications follow a six-stage process -
lodgement, planning, drainage, structural, finalising details, and quality
control and approval. With the online service, you can see what stage in this
process the consent has reached.
