Proposed plan modification 233 - Westfield to Southdown gas
pipeline
Notice of requirement for a new gas transmission pipeline
and ancillary facilities: Vector Gas Limited
Auckland City Council gives notice of a requirement for a
designation for public works under Section 168 of the Resource Management Act
1991.
The requirement from Vector Gas Limited is for a
designation to construct and operate a new high-pressure gas transmission
pipeline between Vector's existing Westfield delivery point at Mount Wellington
Highway, Westfield and its existing southdown delivery point at Hugo Johnson
Drive in Penrose (a length of approximately 1.6 km). Existing facilities at both
the Westfield and Southdown delivery points will also be modified to accommodate
the new pipeline, including the relocation of pipe cleaning, filtering and
metering equipment.
The proposed pipeline route and land affected is identified
on the plans that accompany the notice of requirement.
Vector Gas Limited advises that this notice of requirement
is necessary to enable the land to be used for the construction, operation,
maintenance, repair, upgrading and renewal of the gas transmission pipeline and
delivery point facilities. The new pipeline is
necessary to:
- ensure continuity and security of natural gas supply
- provide for future demand for natural gas.
A full description of the work is set out in the assessment
of environmental effects (AEE) available at the places listed below.

of the requirement, AEE and other background information may be inspected free
