adidas Auckland Marathon 2008

The following road closures and parking restrictions are proposed to be in place on Sunday, 2 November and apply to all except authorised and emergency vehicles. For more information, phone Auckland City Council.

Northern motorway and Auckland Harbour Bridge

Northbound clip-on lanes (lanes one and two) of the Auckland Harbour Bridge will be closed from 6am to 9am. All other lanes on the bridge will be open to traffic.

The following areas will be closed from 4am to 10.30am:

  • Curran Street onramp (northbound)
  • Stafford Road offramp (northbound)
  • Onewa Road offramp (northbound)
  • Northcote Road offramp (northbound)
  • Northcote Road onramp (southbound).

St Marys Bay and Westhaven

Curran Street (between Jervois Road and Westhaven Drive) will be closed from 5am to 11am.
Sarsfield Street
(between Shelly Beach and Hamilton roads) will be closed from 5am to 11am. There will be residential access only to Shelly Beach Road from Jervois Road.
Westhaven Drive
(from Curran Street to Beaumont Street) will be partially closed from 6am to 11am. A one-way coned system will operate allowing traffic to enter from Beaumont Street and exit via Shelly Beach Road.

Tank farm, Victoria Park and Viaduct Harbour

Hamer and Brigham streets (from Jellicoe Street) will be closed from 6am to 11am.
Jellicoe Street
(between Brigham and Halsey streets) will be partially closed from 6am to 11am. A one-way coned system will operate with entry from Halsey Street.
Halsey Street
(between Jellicoe and Gaunt streets) will be partially closed from 5am to 11.30am. A one-way coned system will operate for northbound traffic from Pakenham Street. Halsey Street (between Fanshawe and Gaunt streets) will be closed from 5am to 1pm.
Gaunt Street
(between Halsey and Daldy streets) will be closed from 4am to 11am.
Fanshawe Street
(between Beaumont and Halsey streets) will be closed from 4am to 2pm.
Viaduct Harbour Avenue
(from Halsey Street to Customs Street West) will be closed from 6am to 1pm.

Other CBD and Mechanics Bay

Customs Street West (between Fanshawe and Lower Hobson streets) will be closed from 6am to 11.30am.
Lower Hobson Street's western side
(between Sturdee and Quay streets) will be closed from 5am to 11.30am.
Northern lanes of Quay Street
(between Lower Hobson Street and Tamaki Drive) will be closed from 5am to 11.30am.

Orakei, Mission Bay, Kohimarama and St Heliers

Northern lanes of Tamaki Drive (between The Strand and Ngapipi Road) will be closed from 6am to 11.30am. The southern lanes will be open to westbound traffic. The northern lanes between Ngapipi Road and Goldie Street will be partially closed from 6am to 11.30am. A two-way coned system will operate.

Parking restrictions

The following parking restrictions will be in place during this event.

  • Sarsfield Street, Ponsonby - both sides, between Curran Street and Shelly Beach Road.
  • Emmett Street, Ponsonby - south side.
  • Beaumont Street, central city - east side, from the intersection of Fanshawe Street in a southerly direction for 150 metres.
  • Beaumont Street, central city - both sides, between Fanshawe and Jellicoe streets.
  • Hamer Street, central city - west side, between Jellicoe and Brigham streets.
  • Brigham Street, central city - east side, between Hamer and Jellicoe streets.
  • Jellicoe Street, central city - north side, between Brigham and Halsey streets.
  • Halsey Street, central city - both sides, between Victoria and Jellicoe streets.
  • Gaunt Street, central city - both sides, between Daldy and Halsey streets.
  • Fanshawe Street, central city - both sides, between Beaumont and Halsey streets.
  • Viaduct Harbour Avenue, central city - both sides, between Halsey Street and Customs Street West.
  • Customs Street West, central city - both sides, between Viaduct Harbour Ave and Lower Hobson Street.
  • Lower Hobson Street, central city - west side, between Customs Street West and Quay Street.
  • Quay Street, central city - north side, between Lower Hobson Street and The Strand.
  • Tamaki Drive - north side between The Strand and St Heliers Bay Road (prior to pedestrian crossing), and south side from Ngapipi Road to Okahu Street.

Contingency

In the event of adverse weather or any other consideration causing the Auckland Harbour Bridge to be closed to participants, the following waterfront course will be provided as a contingency, with starting times running 30 minutes or more later.

The following roads would be closed from 6am to noon on Sunday, 2 November - Gaunt Street (between Daldy and Halsey streets), Halsey Street (between Pakenham Street West and Fanshawe Street), Viaduct Harbour Avenue (between Halsey Street and Customs Street West), Customs Street West (between Viaduct Harbour Avenue and Lower Hobson Street), Lower Hobson Street (between Sturdee and Quay streets), Quay Street (between Lower Hobson Street and Tamaki Drive), Tamaki Drive (between The Strand and Goldie Street).

Fanshawe Street (between Beaumont and Halsey streets) would be closed from 4am to 2pm.
