Application for resource consent

From City Scene, published on 19 October 2008

Auckland City Council has received an application for resource consent under the Resource Management Act 1991 for 62 Randolph Street, Newton. You can make a submission on this application - see the end of the notice for more information.

Details
This is the re-notification of an application first notified in July 2006.

The applicant seeks retrospective resource consent for the establishing of residential units (four) and office tenancies (three) within an existing building situated on the corner of Upper Queen Street and Randolph Street. The site is zoned mixed-use, and therefore the residential and office activities are permitted.

However, resource consent is required for a shortfall of 12 parking spaces when 24 are required and only 12 can be provided. Resource consent is also required for other parking and access related matters, including a shortfall of one loading space; providing two "stacked" parking spaces; reverse manoeuvring, and manoeuvring that does not comply with required standards; and for the site being located within a defined road boundary. Proposed units 5 and 7 also do not comply with the private open space outlook requirement.

Overall, this application is considered to be a discretionary activity under the isthmus district plan.
