Speed limits outside schools

At its meeting on Friday, 13 February 2009, Auckland City Council resolved, pursuant to clause 25.6.3 of Auckland City Council Traffic Bylaw 2006, to impose a 40km/h speed limit outside the following schools:

• St Kentigern Primary School
• Baradene Primary
• Victoria Avenue School
• Waiheke High School
• Te Huruhi Primary
• Hillsborough Primary
• May Road School
• Westmere School
• St Dominics School
• Stanhope Road Primary School
• Kohimarama School
• Sylvia Park Primary School
• Glen Innes Primary
• St Pius X Primary
• Glen Taylor Primary School
• St Mary's School.

The 40 km/h speed limit will operate on school days for a maximum period of 35 minutes before the start of school and for 20 minutes at the end of the school day, beginning no earlier than five minutes before the end of the school day. The speed limit will also apply for 10 minutes at any other time when at least 50 children cross the road or enter or leave vehicles at the roadside. Appropriate signs will be installed to mark the beginning and the end of the area where the speed limit will operate.
