Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Act 2000

Auckland City Council has prepared the following plan modification to the operative central area district plan under the Resource Management Act 1991.

Proposed plan modification 34 seeks changes to the operative central area district plan to ensure adequate recognition is given to the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Act 2000 and the council's responsibility to have regard to it when considering resource consent applications for the Hauraki Gulf, its islands, and catchments.

The proposed plan modification and background information may be viewed online free of charge or during business hours at:

  • City Planning, level 11, Civic Administration Building, 1 Greys Avenue
  • the reference section of the Central City Library, 44-46 Lorne Street, central city.

Please phone the duty planner, central area planning if you have any questions about the proposal. Any person may make a submission on the proposal.

Making a submission

Your submission must be in the format outlined in the Resource Management Act 1991. You can print submission forms that follow this format or get them from the places listed above and all community libraries.

You must say in your submission whether or not you wish to be heard on your submission.

You can lodge your submissions

  • by post to Auckland City Council, Private Bag 92516 Wellesley Street, Auckland 1141 (attn: manager, City Planning)
  • online (conditions apply, see this site).
  • at level 11 of the Civic Administration Building, 1 Greys Avenue, central city.

Closing date for submissions

20 July 2009.

Taking part

The process for public participation in the consideration of a proposed plan modification under the Act is as follows.

  • After the closing date for submissions, the council must prepare a summary of the submissions and this summary must be publicly notified; and
  • There must be an opportunity to make further submissions in support of, or in opposition to, the submissions already made; and
  • If a person making a submission asks to be heard in support of his or her submission, a hearing must be held; and
  • The council must give its decision on the proposal (including its reasons for accepting or rejecting submissions); and
  • Any person who has made a submission has the right to appeal the decision on the proposed plan modification to the Environment Court.
