Operative plan changes

At its meeting on 27 August 2009 the council resolved to adopt the following plan modifications to the district plan following the completion of the statutory processes.

Isthmus district plan

The plan changes have been amended as a consequence of consent orders issued by the Environment Court and will be operative on Friday, 11 September 2009.

Character overlay

Plan modification 132 (including plan modification 132A - variation) introduces a character overlay to the suburban town centres of Ellerslie, Eden Valley, Kingsland, Grey Lynn and West Lynn, and Upper Symonds Street. The plan change introduces additional controls to development in these town centres. The plan change does not alter the underlying zoning of the properties within the town centres but means that development proposals will be considered against additional criteria at resource consent stage.

Additions to the heritage schedule - appendix 1

Plan modification 183 is a plan change that provides for the following additions to the heritage schedule:

• 481-487 Khyber Pass Road, Newmarket
• 2-8 Osborne Street, Newmarket
• 586-592 Remuera Road, Remuera
• 2 Stanley Street, Parnell (corner of Parnell Rise).

Plan modification 184 is a plan change that provides for the following addition to the heritage schedule:

• 42 St Stephens Avenue, Parnell.

Central area district plan

The plan change has been amended as a consequence of consent orders issued by the Environment Court on 26 March 2008 and 5 June 2009 and will be operative on Friday, 11 September 2009.

Demolition controls

Plan modification 5 is a plan change that introduces controls on the demolition of character (pre-1940) buildings in the Queen Street Valley and Karangahape Road precincts in the central area.
