Application for resource consent

From City Scene, published on 13 September 2009

Auckland City Council has received an application for resource consent under the Resource Management Act 1991 for 6 Edmonton Avenue, Onehunga. You can make a submission on this application. See the end of this notice for more information on how to do this.

Details

The applicant seeks resource consent to relocate the existing garage on site, remove 11 generally protected trees and construct a second residential dwelling within the Residential 6a zone. The proposed second dwelling fails to meet the zone's minimum residential density standards of 375m2 per residential unit, requiring consent as a non-complying activity.

It is proposed to relocate the existing garage to the front of the site enabling the creation of a second building platform area for the new dwelling towards the rear of the site. The repositioning of the existing garage would require discretionary activity consent for development control modification of the front yard provisions.

The proposed second dwelling would also require discretionary activity consent for the following:

  • development control modification
  • zonal height controls
  • height to boundary controls
  • maximum building coverage
  • provision of private open space
  • on site vehicular manoeuvring controls
  • home occupation provisions.

The removal of 11 generally protected trees would require consent as a discretionary activity. Overall, the application is considered to be a non-complying activity.
