Central area district plan

Auckland City Council has prepared the following plan modifications to the central area district plan under the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA).

Notices of requirement - Wynyard Quarter

  1. Proposed plan modification 38 - notice of requirement

    Proposed plan modification 38 is a notice of requirement that introduces a new designation for public open space/road that realigns the Linear Park on the western side of Daldy Street. A minor 2m reduction in width is also proposed for the sector of park between Pakenham Street and Madden Street.

  2. Proposed plan modification 39 - notice of requirement

    Proposed plan modification 39 is a notice of requirement that introduces a new designation for public open space that reduces the width of Wynyard Plaza from 20m to 10m, removes the triangular portion at the southern end and realigns the northern end of the existing plaza designation.

Making a submission

Any person may make a submission on the notice of requirement. Your submission must be in the format outlined in the Resource Management Act. You can print submission forms that follow this format  or get them from the places listed above.

Lodge your submission:

  • by post to Auckland City Council, Private Bag 92516 Wellesley Street, Auckland 1141 (attention: manager, central area)
  • online (conditions apply)
  • at level 10 of the Civic Administration Building, 1 Greys Avenue, central city.

You must also serve a copy of your submission on the council at the address for service below as soon as is reasonably practicable after lodging your submission using one of the above options.

Variation - Wynyard Quarter

  1. Proposed plan modification 43 - variation (Linear Park and Wynyard Plaza)

    Proposed plan modification 43 addresses the changes required to proposed plan modification 4 associated with realignment of Linear Park and change to the width of Wynyard Plaza (as outlined in plan modifications 38 and 39).

  • the reference section of the Central City Library, 44-46 Lorne Street, central city
  • the Leys Institute community library, 20 St Marys Bay Road, Ponsonby.

Any person may make a submission on the proposal. Your submission must be in the format outlined in the Resource Management Act. You can print submission forms that follow this format or get them from the places listed above.

Taking part

(Taken from the Resource Management Act 1991)

The process for public participation in the consideration of a proposed plan modification under the Act is as follows.

  • After the closing date for submissions, the council must prepare a summary of the submissions and this summary must be publicly notified; and
  • There must be an opportunity to make further submissions in support of, or in opposition to, the submissions already made; and
  • If a person making a submission asks to be heard in support of his or her submission, a hearing must be held; and
  • The council must give its decision on the proposal (including its reasons for accepting or rejecting submissions); and
  • Any person who has made a submission has the right to appeal the decision on the proposed plan modification to the Environment Court.

Further submissions - 104-114 Quay Street and Britomart precinct

  1. Proposed plan modification 41 - private plan change

    The summary of decisions requested by submitters and copies of the submissions in respect of plan modification 41 are now available for public inspection. Anybody can make a further submission on a plan modification.

    This private plan change was first advertised in City Scene on 20 September 2009.

    This private plan change relates to the Seafarer's site at 104-114 Quay Street, and the wider Britomart Precinct (bordered by Queen Street, Quay Street, Customs Street East and Britomart Place), central city.

The summary of decisions requested and submissions may be viewed online free of charge or during business hours at:

  • level 10 of the Civic Administration Building, 1 Greys Avenue, central city
  • the reference section of the Central City Library, 44-46 Lorne Street, central city.

Phone the notification specialist if you have any questions about the summary on the submissions.

Making a further submission

The only people able to make a further submission are:

  • those who are representing a relevant aspect of the public interest
  • those who have an interest in the proposed policy statement or plan or change that is greater than the interest the general public has
  • the local authority.

Further submission forms can be printed or are available from the places listed above and at all community libraries.

  • online (conditions apply)
