Time running out for dog registrations22 July 2008 Time is running out for the registration of dogs in Auckland city. By registering before 2 August owners will be able to take advantage of reduced registration fees, and also go into the draw to win one of six $200 Westfield vouchers. "So far we've had a great response, with 62 per cent of the city's 19,058 dogs registered. But there are still roughly 7000 dogs unregistered. Dog registration is important, and we are aiming again this year for 100 per cent of known dogs to be registered," says Councillor Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga chairperson of the council's city development committee. "Registering your dog on-time means animal control officers can focus more on education and dealing with problem dogs and owners, rather than following up late payers." A late fee is charged for registration after 2 August. Dog owners can be fined $300 if their dog is unregistered and their dog can be impounded. Haven't received your registration pack? Or your dog's blue registration disc? If your details and your dogs details haven't changed, you can re-register online.
