Ceramics class
An encounter with clay
This is an opportunity to further experience the excitement and fascination
of clay with one of New Zealand's leading ceramicists.
In this class for students with recent experience, there is an opportunity to
extend and develop your sculptural practise in clay. Wear old and comfortable
clothes.
Clay can be bought from the tutor as needed. The cost of firings is included
in the course fee.
Maximum enrolment is 8.
Four sisters - ceramics
The initial project for this experimental ceramic class is the designing and
making of a vessel and then making three variations of it.
A range of techniques to shape clay are demonstrated, including throwing on a
pottery wheel. Students will a develop skills to decorate their pots using paper
patterns, ceramic slips and experience the process of glazing and stacking a
kiln.
The ceramic vessels are fully functional tableware.
Maximum enrolment is 8.
