Children's art class
Please note:
- all term classes run for 8 weeks
- please wear an art shirt and bring a snack to class
- Artstation tutors are practicing artists and experts in their field who recognise student's unique skills and abilities.
Classes are process and skill-based. Using a variety of media, children learn through fun and experimentation.
After school classes - Term one 2012
Junior art studio
Draw, paint, sculpt and print. Enjoy developing your own
ideas while working with new materials and techniques in a fun and supportive
environment.
Art club students will examine a theme using drawing,
painting, printmaking and sculpture in an experimental manner. Please bring an
art shirt and snack.

Painting and drawing
Each week will focus on different aspects of painting,
drawing and collage techniques, using international and local artists as a
starting point for the day's activities.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about
contemporary and historical artists while developing art skills and having fun.

Pottery: Waterfalls and fantails
This pottery class is about designing and modelling
colourful wall tiles with 3D elements. Our inspiration is the beautiful
Waitakere Ranges with its rich variety of wild life and plants.
So come and enjoy being creative with clay. Sculpting and
decorating techniques will be explored, including throwing pots on a pottery
wheel.
Maximum enrolment is 12.
In Betweens open workshop
Students will develop confidence in previously explored
skills and techniques while using a variety of media including drawing,
painting, collage, clay, 3D construction, photography and printmaking. Emphasis
is on individual development and experimentation.
The students will enjoy one to one tuition in a fun and
stimulating environment. Bring art clothes and a snack.

is for recycle, restore and recreate
Do you love collecting things and turning throwaways into
gems?
For those who are curious to learn why the activity of
recycling is so vital in helping restore the earth's resources. We will work
together on several fun recyclable projects making unique objects built from
found things. Please bring along found objects e.g. used paper, envelopes, odd
socks, fabric - anything you like!

Shadow and light
In this workshop we will experiment with shadows and light.
We will make shadow puppets from a variety of materials and then use these to
make drawings, paintings and a mobile.

Painting and drawing: In the style of matisse
A painting and drawing workshop using Henri Matisse's
oeuvre of drawing, painting and collage as a starting for the days activities.

Pottery
In these fun classes, children will be guided through a
variety of sculpting techniques including throwing pots on a wheel. All
creations will be decorated with colourful slips and fired, returning as fully
functional tableware/sculptures.
Each class maximum
enrolment is 12.
Rock pools - create unique platters
Tuataras on the rocks - modelling creatures in clay
Choose your favourite New Zealand native animal and make
its shape from soft white clay. Children will be guided through a variety of
sculpting techniques including throwing small vessels on a pottery wheel.
Mad Hatters Tea Party - funky functional teapots

Pottery: Heads of heroes
Combining hand-building clay techniques with scraffito,
create a ceramic bust of your favourite hero or character from your imagination.
Clay works will be painted with colourful slips, fired and glazed.

From ideas to creations
Starting with your own ideas, A.D. will help you to create a unique artwork
that will use sculpture, painting or drawing mediums.

Storytelling and picturemaking
Drawing, painting, and collage are just some of
the techniques the children will use to make richly layered artworks. Both
