Glass

Introduction to cast glass

Glass casting is an exciting contemporary art form in Aotearoa. This course will introduce students to the processes, techniques and possibilities of "lost wax" casting.

No previous experience with glass is required, as you will learn how to make a wax model and refractory moulds and how to kiln fire to cast a glass object. The course fee includes wax, mould materials and firing. 1 kg of glass is included in the fee but students will need to buy their own additional glass.

Students will also need to bring a small selection of modelling and carving tools to the first class - you may have these at home already. If not, they can be purchased at art supplies stores.

Maximum enrolment is 8.
