Weekend workshop: Silicon mould workshop
In this workshop we will be making flexible silicone rubber moulds. These moulds are a great way to reproduce found
objects with lots of undercuts or to make a permanent mould from an original
sculpture. A silicone rubber mould can be used for reproducing multiples with
wax, plaster or concrete and can be used in a variety of practices.
This workshop would suit beginners or practising artists who wish to reproduce found
objects. Students will need to bring with them a selection of found objects and
or original sculptures no bigger than 250mm3 and a disposable dust mask, which
is available for purchase at the Artstation office. All other materials are
included in the cost of the course.
Maximum enrolment is 8.

Weekend workshop: Model, mould and cast - sculpture techniques
Over two weekends learn three traditional sculpting techniques. Build a clay model on
an armature support. Then make a multi-part mould, in order to cast and reproduce the original form in plaster. The final work is mounted, and various
paint finishes will be demonstrated.
You will come away with a mounted plaster sculpture (50cm high). The introductory talk is essential as we will discuss
the limitations and possibilities of these techniques, and look for inspiration
from contemporary sculptors who use them in their art practices. Suitable for
all levels, please wear old clothing.
Maximum enrolment is 8.
