Sculpture

Introduction to sculpture

'Introduction to sculpture' gives you the opportunity to make three dimensional objects using the ideas, working techniques and materials of sculpture and introduces you to the exciting world of contemporary sculptural practice. If you enjoy making things with your hands, or would like to develop your making skills further, this is a great way to do it.

You will have nine weeks of varied, directed projects using a broad range of materials and techniques, which gives you an excellent base from which to make more work on your own with whatever assistance you require. Each week's project will be clearly explained and there will be hands on demonstrations in a relaxed and informative way.

Maximum enrolment is 8.

Workshop: Silicone mould workshop

In this workshop we will be making flexible silicone rubber moulds. These moulds are a great way to reproduce found objects with lots of undercuts or to make a permanent mould from an original sculpture.

A silicone rubber mould can be used for reproducing multiples with wax, plaster or concrete and can be used in a variety of practices. This workshop would suit beginners or practising artists who wish to reproduce found objects.

Students will need to bring with them a selection of found objects and or original sculptures no bigger than 250mm3 and a disposable dust mask, which is available for purchase at the Artstation office. All other materials are included in the cost of the course.
