A painter's progress
This is an exciting opportunity for painters with some experience to progress
towards independence. Over a period of four continuous terms, students will be encouraged
to develop a professional and dedicated approach to their art making through the
development of a personal philosophy and practice.
In the first two terms there will be a Saturday 'intensive' over-and-above the
scheduled weekly classes. The year will culminate in a professionally curated exhibition
in the Artstation Gallery, selected from work produced by course participants throughout
the year. Maximum enrolment is 12.

'A painter's studio'
This one day a week class offers committed students a supportive 'open' studio
environment in which to foster their development as painters. The painting practice
will be accompanied by discussion, readings, evaluation and critiques in order to
foster the individual's personal theoretical growth.
Prospective students need an ability to work independently, to have some ideas
and directions that they may wish to explore and to be focussed and open to sharing
ideas with the group. The goal is to develop a sound working methodology and to
work toward a professionally curated exhibition in the Artstation Gallery. This
class will be collaboratively structured and tutored by Kathryn Stevens and Matthew
Browne. Maximum enrolment is 12.
A Painter's Progress & Painter's Studio
In short the best aspects are: sunny days in the studio with music and chatter,
in depth discussions about art, artists and your work, watching people develop skills,
seeing works grow in front of you, one-on-one time with the tutors to discuss your
works - that 'Family feeling' in the class.
Although I miss it, life after the Artstation courses is great. I have a confidence
in myself, which I didn't have before, to continue my passion for painting, as well
as a support network of people who share a vision and great memories of learning
and evolving as artists. I look back on years before the Painters Progress and Painters
Studio and think how did I ever survive, how did I manage to create any works.
My mind has been rocked by this place and its all for the good!
Emma Davie Aiaraisa, student 2004 & 2005
360° An Introduction to the Visual Arts

 |
| 360° class and printmaking |
|
This course is a unique opportunity to study under the guidance
of seven artists, all of whom are experienced teachers and practicing professionals
in their field.
The aim of 360° is to help creativity to flourish through
a diverse programme moving between the two and three dimensions. Critical thinking
and art theory are also included. Working from a core course of painting and drawing,
students will be able to establish a direction and go on to work across the 4 other
disciplines and subsequently clarify directions for further study and specialisation.
360° is therefore ideal for those students wanting to produce a portfolio
for later application to art school degree courses.
Scheduled over the year in blocks of nine weeks, students will explore
and expand their visual creativity through a broad programme combining practical
skills with enhanced knowledge of the theory of art and a confidence in critical
thinking. The year's study will culminate in a professionally curated exhibition
of selected student's work. Maximum enrolment is 14.
360° An Introduction to the Visual Arts
"I can't praise this course enough, the tutors are fantastic and course content
really liberating, to be exposed to so many different mediums is really exciting,
an amazing year!"
Jana Wood, student 2008
"When I read about the course in the flier I thought this is the course for me
and it has been everything I hoped it would be. It is well structured and the support
and feedback is fantastic. The fact that it is part time and there are the different
disciplines was great and the level was just right. I would say that students need
to be committed but they should Enrol Now!"
Michael Kennedy, student 2007

A Glass Studio
Evelyn Dunstan, completed The Glass Studio a yearlong course at Artstation in 2004
became a Ranamok finalist in 2005 and 2006 and has gone on to win the Ranamok Prize
for contemporary glass in 2007. This prestigious prize is awarded to artists within

the yearlong course at Artstation, apart from being a course that taught a wide
