Obtaining funding to create art
There are two main funding opportunities available through Auckland City Council
for artists.
Creative Communities is funded by Creative New Zealand and given to local authorities
to distribute to community arts projects that increase active participation in the
arts. Auckland City Council is currently involved in a pilot scheme being run by
Creative New Zealand until June 2010.

Creating opportunities for employment for artists, across
all artistic mediums
Apart from providing funding for artist led initiatives, Auckland City Council
also employs artists on a regular basis on all sorts of projects. All opportunities
are advertised on The Big Idea website
(www.thebigidea.co.nz).
Develop new skills to assist them as professional practicing
artists
Each year we run Business of Arts seminar series in conjunction with School of
Art and Design at AUT. Information will be posted when the next registrations are
open.
