Past projects on Great Barrier Island
RAW local arts project
This artwork consisted of a two metre high sculpture made of stone, steel and copper and was installed on the foreshore
opposite Tryphena Hall. A pohutukawa tree and a stone sat within the sphere of the sculpture to represent its clinging
roots and symbolised Great Barrier Island as a world of its own due to its location away from the mainland. A group of
eight island residents aged 15-25 years worked on this with artist Cynthia Macnee.
