RAW local arts project

Temporary ballon structure
Temporary ballon structure

Artist Scott McDowall worked with twelve young people aged around 15, to create a temporary 'mobile structure' with an anti-pollution theme. The structure comprised plastic shopping bags woven like a net into the shape of a life-size car, and became the centre of a colourful performance piece presented at the Mission Bay's Selwyn Reserve, near the waterfront. The group walked around the reserve inside the structure and then broke the 'car' apart to release 100 biodegradable, helium-filled ballons. The balloons carried signatures and drawings from members of the public.
