On Monday, 28 January 2008 we will celebrate Auckland's birthday with the Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta. The first regatta took place on the Waitemata Harbour 168 years ago.

The harbour will come alive with a range of different craft including tiny optimists, centre-boarders, classic vessels, keelboats and multi-hulls. It will be a spectacle reminiscent of the glory of by-gone years.

Anniversary Day Regattas have been a training ground for many of the current America's Cup teams.

It will be a fabulous day on the water. You can participate as a sailor or watch from excellent harbour vantage points at Tamaki Drive, Orakei Wharf, Bastion Point, North Head or East Coast Bays.

We are delighted to sponsor one of the oldest sporting events in New Zealand. The event truly defines Auckland as the City of Sails, and reflects on Auckland's significant maritime heritage.
