About the event
The BMW Auckland Regatta features 15 sailing divisions over three days, racing at two of Auckland's popular eastern beaches.
This popular and competitive event draws top-class amateur sailors to the Auckland region, making it a must for sailors and spectators alike.
Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Bucklands Beach Yacht Club have combined resources to create this exciting regatta week, now in its second year.

About the competition
The winning skipper and crew from each division in the BMW Auckland Regatta are invited to compete in the New Zealand BMW Sailing Cup, sailed on the MRX-class of yachts and takes place in Auckland from 28 February to 1 March 2009.
The winning team from the New Zealand BMW Sailing Cup will then go on to compete in the international BMW Sailing Cup to be hosted in Italy in April 2009.
