BMW Sailing Cup World Final 2010

About the event

BMW Sailing Cup World Final 2010.

The 2010 BMW Sailing Cup World Final is the culmination for one talented New Zealand crew of a month of sailing during the BMW Sailing Cup and BMW Auckland Regatta.

The BMW Sailing Cup features divisional winners in the BMW Auckland Regatta (26-28 February).

The BMW Auckland Regatta is organized in partnership with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Bucklands Beach Yacht Club, with divisions including classic yachts, multihull and sports boats attracting top-class, amateur sailors from around the country.

The Sailing Cup final will then be contested in MRX class yachts - and it's considered the most prestigious, amateur international title for keelboat sailors.

The winner of this event then goes on to compete in the 2010 BMW Sailing Cup World Final, which for the first time ever, is to be held here in New Zealand during the Auckland Festival of Sailing.

The final will feature crews from New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain and, for the first time, Hong Kong.

The New Zealand crew of Triple 8 won the 2009 BMW Sailing Cup World Final at Lake Garda in Italy, beating the Italian team.

Let's hope it's Kiwi two years in a row!
