About the event
As one of Auckland's most popular summer events, the Auckland Lantern Festival brings Chinese New Year celebrations to a
glowing finale with hundreds of beautiful lanterns, including brand new designs from China.
There will be performers from New Zealand and overseas, as well as crafts, fortune-telling, fireworks and martial arts displays.
We organise the Auckland Lantern Festival in partnership with the Asia New Zealand Foundation.
University joins in Lantern Festival
The University of Auckland had a strong presence at this year's Lantern Festival, with art exhibitions, culture, music,
food and banners on Princes Street.

Volunteers
Final preparations for the upcoming Auckland Lantern Festival are underway and event organisers are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, including international artist liaison, stage assistant, runners, information tent staff, lost children tent staff, ushers and general assistants.
Most volunteers will be needed from 4pm to 10.30pm between 26 and 28 February, but the hours required may vary depending on the role.
There are a limited number of roles available and event organisers are especially interested in hearing from native Chinese speakers, but everyone is welcome.
Volunteers will get a 2010 Lantern Festival t-shirt and a meal voucher for each day worked.
If you are interested in volunteering for the festival, please complete the
online volunteer registration form.
