About the event

Matariki Festival.

Many people across Auckland celebrated Matariki, the Maori New Year, during Auckland's Matariki Festival 09.

Matariki is a time for sharing kai, rituals, entertainment, hospitality and knowledge.

There were loads of great events and activities happening across the Auckland region from 24 June to 24 July 2009, giving people of all cultures the chance to come together, and celebrate this special time of year, unique to Aotearoa.

The Matariki Festival is packed full of great ways to celebrate Maori New Year and next year's festival promises to be better still. For more information about the Matariki Festival visit the
