FREE SUMMER EVENT
Music in Parks provides free concerts to the
public and brings Auckland together. It also fosters the local music scene and

and Nathan Haines in the early stages of their careers.
2008 Music in Parks calendar consisted of over 40 concerts and marked 15 years of
Auckland City Council proudly presenting free kiwi music in Auckland's parks and reserves.
The 2008 season is now over.

Drake Jazz at the Rotunda
Drake Jazz at the Rotunda is Auckland's longest running
annual jazz festival.

in the historic Auckland Domain band rotunda.
It has been 100 years since Buddy
Bolden strut his cornet in New Orleans, and the musical innovation continues
here in Auckland.

The Culture Garden
The Culture Garden presented a wide range of niche musical
genres in Auckland's more intimate park settings.
This was an opportunity to
explore music that's new to you, or further explore the music you already love.
There were also the tea dances
where a range of early 20th century dance styles could be found.

Movies
in Parks
An exciting new addition in 2008 was Movies in Parks - a
series of midweek iconic kiwi films screened in Mt Eden's Tahaki Reserve.
Live kiwi music set the scene for the
feature film, projected after sunset onto a large inflatable screen.
