Various venues

New Zealand Music Month is a celebration of New Zealand music. It focuses media and public attention on local musical talent.

The music industry is of particular economic importance to Auckland city as it is the home of major record companies, live music performance venues, and music video production houses.

Music performances and celebrations through free public events help build strong communities. We were responsible for producing and organising 35 free Music in Parks concerts in 2006/2007. This programme, along with other events with a music component such as Pasifika Festival, is important in providing a platform for our emerging local talents. We are proud to have provided this support to the local industry for over a decade.

Auckland is a hub for New Zealand's creative industries, including music. We are proud to support New Zealand Music Month through our libraries programme, and to sponsor the New Zealand Music Awards for the fourth time this October.

We will also continue to support the local industry through our programme of free music events.

To find out more about what is on during music month visit the gig guide on www.nzmusic.org.nz.
