2008 Pacific International Trade Expo

5-6 March 2008
Waitakere Trusts Stadium
Henderson

'Pacific peoples working together to improve trade'

The New Zealand Pacific Business Council (NZPBC) organised and held its first Pacific Trade Expo in March 2006. This second Pacific Trade Expo aims to achieve market growth for New Zealand exporters and Pacific Island countries by way of reciprocal "two-way" trade and investment.

NZPBC is strongly supported by three of the major city councils in the Auckland region (Auckland, Manukau, and Waitakere), plus the Pacific Islands Trade and Investment Commission (PITIC), and the New Zealand Government.

As a feature event of Celebrate Pasifika, and held just prior to our annual Pasifika Festival, the expo is an essential meeting point for buyers and sellers. It will bring together all players of the Pacific region in the fields of:

  • manufacturing
  • goods and services
  • technology and know-how.

Following the success of the 2006 expo, we are focusing on maximising business outcomes for both visitors and exhibitors. As part of our focus on commercial outcomes, we will also assist by offering opportunities for private one-on-one meetings and, where requested, help to set them up.

Participation from the Pacific islands countries

Beside a large number of New Zealand exhibitors, we have already received confirmation of participation from a number of Polynesian, Melanesian and Micronesian countries:

  • Tonga
  • Samoa
  • American Samoa
  • Fiji
  • Vanuatu
  • Kiribati
  • Cook Islands
  • Marshall Islands
  • Solomon Islands
  • New Caledonia
  • and French Polynesia.

We will be holding a number of workshops on  topics relevant to the Pacific nations:

  • bio security and food safety (in conjunction with MAF)
  • new energy and environment
  • banking and investment opportunities in the Pacific
  • marketing and branding
