Farmers Santa Parade
Sunday 25 November 2007
We are thrilled to sponsor the Auckland Farmers Santa Parade again in 2007. The parade starts of the Christmas season in Auckland and delights thousands of children and their families. Over 250,000 people gather to watch the parade festivities each year, with 280 Christmas creations following a route from Mayoral Drive, through Queen Street, Customs Street West and Albert Street. Auckland City Council recognises the 4,000 strong volunteer base, without whom the parade would never happen, with its annual Auckland City Cup, Farmers Santa Parade Outstanding Volunteer Award, introduced in 2006. We are looking for a special person who has been involved in the parade over the years. Last year's outstanding volunteer, Jim Kirker, has been involved in the parade from the start and has only ever missed two parades! To nominate someone you think has been an outstanding volunteer over the years, email his or her details to eventsponsorship@aucklandcity.govt.nz. Include details of why you think this person is an outstanding volunteer and put Outstanding Volunteer in the subject heading. The Outstanding Volunteer for 2007 will be announced and presented with the Auckland City Cup at the parade after party. If the weather is bad, parade cancellation will be announced on Newstalk ZB after 10am on the day. The parade will still go ahead in light rain. Updated November 2007 |
