Melville Park

Park address

249 to 259 Gillies Avenue, Epsom

About the park

Melville Park was acquired by Auckland City Council in 1917 and is named after Ellen Melville, Auckland’s first woman councillor.

Melville Park became home to the Epsom Croquet Club, the Auckland Women’s Cricket Association, and the Auckland Women’s Hockey Association. The upper level quickly gained a reputation as a woman’s sports ground, and today the park continues to be used extensively for Woman’s Cricket and by the Epsom Croquet Club.

An attractive park, home to women's sport for many decades.

For more information see also the Coast to coast walkway which passes through the park.
