Craigavon Park

Park address

82 to 86 Kinross Street, Blockhouse Bay

About the park

Craigavon Park is bordered by Portage Road, Connell Street, Connaught Street and Kinross Street. It contains a diverse landscape that can be divided into approximately two-thirds regenerating native forest and one-third grassland. Its topography is flat to easy grade with the highest points located on the park boundaries.

The park caters for a range of informal recreational activities. A large grassed area on the western side contains a playground, barbecue and car park. Several tall tree specimens, mainly pine, are also dotted throughout this area.

A bark-composite walking track winds through the bush area with eight fitness stations located at various points along the track, beginning at the Kinross Street entrance. The trail is approximately 1.1 kilometres long.

An un-named stream runs through the park and feeds into the Avondale Stream. The park lies within easy walking distance of coastal reserves located along the Manukau Harbour extending to Te Whau Point. It forms an important part of the open space network in terms of its amenity and recreation values and contribution to the ecological corridor.
