Closures
We try to avoid cancelling games or closing fields, but sometimes we must in order to prevent excessive damage to fields or to carry out essential field renovation work.
Weekend sport
In winter, we assess all our fields on Friday mornings, and advise Auckland Football Federation (AFF), Auckland Rugby League (ARL) and Auckland Rugby Union (ARU) how many hours sport they can put on each field by 2pm Friday. The codes then revise their draws and communicate the changes to their members.
Visit the codes websites for the latest information on games they have transferred or cancelled:
- Auckland Football Federation
- Auckland Rugby League >> click on 'Weekly draws, Results and standings', then click on 'Draw' and this will take you to the new mySport site where can you can register for automatic updates by text or e-mail.
- Auckland Rugby Union or phone their cancellation hotline - Phone: 815 4828.
In summer, cancellations are rare, and the decision is usually made on the day of play. Again, players are advised to contact the organisers of their game.
Mid-week sport
For evening training or games you can ring our information line - Phone: 379 2024 after 2pm to find out if your park is closed.
Renovations
Fields are renovated twice a year in Autumn (March/April) and Spring (September/October). The spring renovation is usually our major annual programme and fields are normally closed from about mid September until Labour Weekend.
You can help us return our fields to good playing standard each year by keeping off them during renovation time. Signs are posted on fields being renovated. We normally have alternative venues available as back up during this period and you can contact us to find out where they are and to make a booking.
View information about works being undertaken on the Western Springs outer sportsfields from 2008 to 2010.
