Do you qualify for event sponsorship?

Sponsorship is a commercial arrangement that provides tangible benefit to the sponsor as opposed to a grant, donation or funding.

We have a clear mandate to sponsor events that bring significant economic and/or social benefit and that fit with the themes of the Auckland City Events Strategy.

  • Artistic and Creative
  • Active Outdoor and Sporting
  • Cultural and ethnic diversity
  • Maritime

We review the event sponsorship portfolio and allocate budget on an annual basis.

Below are some questions that can be used as a guide to see whether your event would meet our sponsorship criteria:

  1. Does your event fit one or more of the themes above? (compulsory)
  2. Does your event have nationwide or international appeal?
  3. Are your attendance figures 10,000+, or will your event be televised?
  4. Is your event one of a kind (ie, no similar events already running in Auckland)?
  5. Does your event or conference promote trade, tourism or investment in Auckland city?
  6. Does your event have other sponsors?

If you answered yes to three or more of these questions and you have answered yes to question 1, we would welcome your sponsorship proposal.

Contact us to discuss submitting a proposal.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not sponsor individuals, teams, trade shows, charity fundraisers or events that have already received community board funding.

We need at least six months notice if we are to sponsor an event or conference.

If you are seeking funding that doesn't seem to fit here, check out one of our grants or funds.
