Great Barrier Road looking east towards Thompson's Point, Waiheke. Consultation approach

The council undertook consultation in 2005 in preparation for drafting the proposed plan. The Great Barrier and Waiheke communities requested different consultation approaches for Great Barrier and Waiheke.

Great Barrier

An issues document was prepared for the launch of the Great Barrier Island consultation that specifically identified Great Barrier issues.

An additional workshop was held on Great Barrier in response to the issues identified through consultation. The feedback from the workshop was considered by the Hauraki Gulf Islands District Plan Review Working Party as part of the plan review.

All of the Hauraki Gulf islands

Waiheke islanders requested further opportunities to discuss and raise issues prior to releasing an issues document.  An issues and options document that covers all of the Hauraki Gulf islands was prepared and released on 23 May 2005.

Members of the community were invited to make suggestions and requests. These were considered by the working party when reviewing the plan.

Summary of feedback received

The files contain summaries of all of the written feedback that was received during consultation for the review of the district plan. The code numbering corresponds to the number in the Issues and Options document. Where new issues were raised, these were given a new code.
